The change in color of the varnish layer here has caused a considerable reduction of the sense of depth in the picture, loss of details, and a darkening of the sunny-day landscape. The old varnish was carefully removed and replaced with a light-resestant and stable new varnish. The detail on the left shows the sky early in the cleaning process.
